Biblio

Book businesses

Brand — Website — Event marketing — Print — Merchandise

Biblio leverages e-commerce to connect the finest booksellers with customers across the world. As a small self-financed company, they are dedicated to independent, community businesses. “We view customer service as part of the heart and soul of our company, and think of it as truly our privilege to serve our customers.” Besides celebrating and supporting their booksellers, Biblio founded the non-profit organization known as BiblioWorks which, among other accomplishments, has built community libraries in rural Bolivia.

Big or small, every business needs to reassess their brand — at minimum — every few years. By the 15-year mark, Biblio was more than ready for a refresh. LetterShop stepped in to update the brand from the bottom up, with the mission to make their cutting-edge approach to buying and selling shine through the brand. We started by updating the logo to make it more usable and web-friendly, while retaining the key design elements that customers knew and loved. From commissioned illustration and thoughtfully chosen archival imagery, all the way to an innovate website redesign with mobile users in mind, we built Biblio a highly custom brand that speaks to bibliophiles of today.

A website built for bibliophiles

Biblio offers over 50 million “uncommonly good books” on their website. Our job was to create an intuitive, mobile-first user experience to showcase them all. We came up with interactive strategies to make searching for a book easy, and devised fun and interactive ways to encourage visitors to sign up for the newsletter.

An e-commerce business that lives outside the screen

Paying homage to modern and antiquarian books, the brand refresh utilizes rich archival imagery. Custom iconography punctuates notepads, coasters and other collateral. A bright palette of rich red and luminous blue-green compliments the earth tones in the logo.

A brand built to last

Biblio’s brand refresh was unveiled at book fairs in Florida and London. The archival imagery was the star of the show, and has continued to resonate — today, complete sets of the original bookmarks are selling on eBay!
